Taita Fernando Lezama

Taita Fernando Lezama is a medicine man, recognized worldwide for his care of the original tradition of yage. As a child he began his training with different indigenous communities and native elders.

The elders passed along their knowledge to him, so that he could provide it to his community with respect. His mission is to continue conserving and protecting the jungles of the Putumayo region.

Fernando began his studies of shamanism at age 5 with the elder Taita Juvenal Motunbajoy and was ready to conduct ceremonies at age 12. He continued training for many years, studying the medicine with Siona, Cofan and Coreguaje elders and integrating three aspects of ancestral Yagé wisdom.

Fernando cooks his own remedy in the jungle, which guarantees that the medicine is pure, without any ingredient foreign to the traditional preparation.
